New Remix – when I close my eyes

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Summer is almost here and with lots of stuff to do in regards to finishing off small projects and remixes and so on.

So thats my excuse for not keeping my schedule with this blog… sorry about that.

Just returned from Paris from a little inspiration/work tour to the city of cities. Love that place. Always stay with the greatest view to Sacre Coeur – not sure I spelled that right.

Heard some good music there also. Went to Bataclan one evening and discovered some bands I didnt know before.

49 swimmingpools is a french band singing in english. Piano, vocals, guitar and drums. Same guy plays piano and sings – Elton John wise. He has a lovely voice this guy and the song writing is also good, but in my opiniuon they should skip the piano and get a bassplayer instead. But thats easy to say as an outsider.

The drummer was nopt very in to it though – seemed like he just popped something before he went on stage. Funny to look at though.

Next band was Heroes from Rome  – Brooklyn based hard rock band with great players and nods to both pop and punk. Amazing drummer – really active – maybe too active sometimes. I could buy an album with these guys – really performed well. Dont know how they sound on CD. Maybe nicer – in the bad sense.

Last band that evening at Bataclan was Elbow. Manchester based very controlled rock band with choir girls and small string section – everything in place and a grandiouse like sound. Very british.

Amazing singer, but a little boring in the long run with a show like this where everything is controlled down to the last detail.

Wonder how they got their name.

Very good songs though and very popular with the crowd. Obviously very well known in Paris.

Feel the city and get wiser

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Feel the city, smell the city.Get inside of the city.
It’s a warm day and the yellow sun is bashing us with its deadly beautiful waves of light.
Feel the heat on your skin. Heat that originates from so far away its hard to comprehend that it actually has an effect on my skin right in this moment on this particular planet in this particular solar system in this particular universe.
Imagine where it came from and how hot and scary that place of life must be.
I take in the smell that suddenly is here again. The smell of the city. It has been gone all winter, hiding under the terror of low temperatures. Now its back – tickling every
part of my nervous system with its millions of soft warm arms.
I let it get inside me – let small parts of the burning city get inside me – let small parts of the life in the city get inside me. Life inside me.
Include me in this citys dreams and nightmares, include me in its passions and failures. Include me.
Include me in this city and its pulse. Walk me down the streets of this city.
Walk the streets of this city through me. Walk all the peoples ideas and dreams through me and ask me what the big plan is, and I might just answer you. I might just
answer, that everybody knows it – everybody but me has the information they need to answer that question.
Feel the city, and the answer to the question becomes worthless knowledge, trapped somewhere between a thought and an object. Trapped in emotion – not the worst place to be trapped if you ask me.
