Listening to this old vinyl with Buddy Terry called “Awareness”. The track is called “Abscretions” whatever that means. Its the most funky track on the album and I think the reason why I bought it back in eighty something.
A nice feeling to hear some music you forgot existed.
I must admit that its not the funky track that I like the most now. But okay, its been maybe 20 years since I bought it. Its okay to change preferences.
Most of all its so great to hear actual recordings – not perfected and edited in digital workstations .
But totally rawand warm in the sound – like the sun on a cloudy day this vinyl shares some secrets with you.
I am listening now to some of the other tracks. Its still very funky and there is a lot of free playing in this.
The horns are a bit loose so to say, but its kind of charming anyway. Like a family conversation over the dinner table where everyone tries to get a say.
He is a great player for sure – I am not a jazz buff, but I recognize some of the players on this album. Cecil Bridgewater on trumpet, Stanley Cowellon keys, Buster Williams on bass and Victor Gsskin also on bass… hmm okay. Roland Prince on guitar and Micket Roker , drums and Mtume on Congas.
Beautifullpictures of the whole bunchon the inner sleeve.
Anyway, its a nice tri down memory lane. Some of the tracks very jazzy, but with great feeling and enthusiastic playing.
