Sometimes I thinkit would be fantastic to be more narrowminded musically. That would be great. Just to have one thing that you really like, and not to have tons of different kinds of musical forms and expressions floating around in my consciousness.
But I have decided there is no way beating the fact that I am a musical camelion. I like all sorts of different music. Not just electronic chill out and downbeat.
I guess it’s a good thing… somehow. It keeps me working with so many different people with very different backgrounds and preferences.
I should be happy about it really. Happy happy.
I heard a really cool concert the other day in my local very nice music venue called Vega. It was with a group called Mogwai.
Its basically noiserock.
Long long drones of sound building up over time to massive crescendos.
Here and there they have momentos of very quiet music also. Actually some pretty long stretches of nearly silence, just small sounds from the guitars and maybe some fx from their computer also.
I was told by a friend to buy earplugs, because he told that he thought he got permanent damage to his ears attending one of their concerts on Roskilde Festival a few years back. So we brought earplugs, but I didn’t really use them because I realised it wasn’t so loud after all.
There are no vocals, or just one track. A really good song though. I wish they would write some more songs, but its hard I guess, to escape from the nice concept, the instrumental monstrous rock which they do so well.
Anyway, it was a fantastic concert and I can highly recommed them if you are into this thing, what shall we call it, noiserock? Alternative rock?
Or maybe just music.
